Below is a video showing Senator Ademola Adeleke as he arrived court today after he was arrested by the Nigerian police yesterday, the 6th of May, 2019.
Senator Ademola Adeleke can be seen surrounded by men believed to be lawyers and also men of the Nigerian Police Force. Alighting from the vehicle that brought him to the court’s premises, the second story raised hands up and did the peace sign.
According to police spokesman, Frank Mba:
Meanwhile, in the best tradition of natural justice and fair hearing, he has already been served with the relevant charge sheet containing his alleged offences in the presence of his Attorneys. He will be arraigned in a competent court of law tomorrow, 7th May 2019.”
The case is coming just a month after an High Court nullified Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Osun State governorship candidate of the PDP.
Adeleke was nullified on grounds that he was not qualified academically for the position. He was dragged to court by two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wahab Raheem and Adam Habeeb, accusing him of not possessing the requisite educational qualification (secondary school certificate), to contest for the office of Governor.
The judgement came just days after a Tribunal ruled that he won the 2018 governorship election in the state.
